Okigwe: The Release Of Achonu’s Sleeping tape vindicates US Group

sleeeping SENATOR ATHAN ACHONU
Following the hullabaloo caused by the former Senator Athan Achonu’s senate plenary sleeping tape and pictures that is trending on the social media, as well as, televised all over the world by a cable television (name withheld), a group, the Okigwe young Professional Forum (OYPF), has slammed the culprit, former Senator Athan Achonu, for disgracing Ndi Igbo, Ndi Imo and Okigwe zonal people on the international scene, saying they have been vindicated.

A statement by OYPF spokesperson, Dr. Nnamdi Nwosu, on Tuesday in Okigwe, said the trending pictures and the televised video footage of the former Okigwe senator and an aspiring senatorial candidate from the area, sleeping and snoring during an exhaustive plenary debate in senate, was a big disgrace to Ndi Okigwe, stressing that it has never been recorded in the history of the country that a senator who should be agile in defense of his people during plenary, was caught on camera sleeping on several occasions.

This is even as they said that the video footage and the trending pictures vindicates their early position that Chief Athan Achonu is only a good contractor who is not fit and does not possess what it takes to represent the enlightened people of Okigwe zone in the senate. Especially now that the country is passing through serious economic difficulties.

According to the group, ‘’ it is now crystal clear from the video footage that improper understanding of legislative procedures, lack of charisma, lack of interest in the proceedings of the senate and lack of interest in the welfare of the people of okigwe zone contributed to luring the supposed senator to sleep each time he attended plenary sessions.’’

On his inability to secure a committee chairmanship position or membership of a juicy committee, as well as, his inability to attend plenary sessions, having attended only 25 times out of 70 plenary sessions conducted by the 8th senate before his sack, the group said his lack of interest in legislative activities was responsible.
