Tribunal: Athan Achonu’s Case Suffers Setback again as tribunal dismisses PDP’s Appeal for Joinder

…Ordered to pay Uwajumogu 50 Thousand Naira
Chief Athan Achonu and the People’s Democratic Party PDP’s, defense counsel at Appeal Court, sitting in Owerri, suffered a setback on Friday, as the court dismissed its petition for joinder against Uwajumogu.
The PDP’S counsel, Barr COC Akaolisa, approached the Appeal Court sitting in Owerri, to appeal against the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal ruling, that dismissed the party’s application for joinder against Uwajumogu, as mischief and plot to further delay the matter at the tribunal.
But the Appeal Court, while upholding the ruling of the lower court, dismissed the PDP’s application with cost of 50 thousand naira to be paid to Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu.
The All Progressive Congress and its senatorial candidate, Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu, are contesting the declaration of Chief Athan Achonu as the winner of the March 28 Imo North senatorial election that was generally adjudged, to have been marred by irregularities.
