Okigwe North: Onwubuariri surffers setback at Appeal Court

By Ifeanyi Nwaguma

The member representing Okigwe North Federal Constituency at the House
of Representatives, Hon. Obinna Onwubuariri has suffered another set
back at Appeal court sitting in Owerri.

Onwubuariri went to Appeal Court to stop election panel from hearing
the petition of Hon. Mathew Omegara on his election.
He appealed against the ruling of the tribunal to hear his motion with
the petition.

Appeal Court in its judgement on Friday last week dismissed the appeal
of Hon Onwubuariri challenging the ruling of the elections petitions
tribunal and also refused his prayer for the transfer of the petition
to another election panel.

Nigerian Horn reliably gathered that Hon. Onwubuariri not comfortable
with the judgement of the Appeal Court has field in two new motions
before the lower tribunal.

It will be recalled that Hon. Mathew Omegara of All progressives
Congress (APC) went to Elections Petitions tribunal to challenge the
emergence of Hon. Obinna Onwubuariri of the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP).

However, according to the electoral Acts, all the elections petitions
tribunal have 180 days to look into the petitions generated during the
2015 General Elections.
