Elder Godsday Orubebe, a former Minister of the Niger Delta Ministry and a close aide of the outgoing president Goodluck Jonathan today announced via tweets that he is defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP). Orubebe worked as the PDP presidential collation officer during the just concluded presidential election in March, during which he tried to disrupt collation of presidential election results when it emerged Muhammed Buhari of APC was coasting home to victory. Orubebe accused INEC and its Chairman, Prof. Jega of being partial and tribalistic, the former minister has since apologised for his actions. Many Nigerians who saw Elder Orubebe’s defection tweets today expressed doubt. However, In a telephone interview with Punch Newspapers, Orubebe denied that he was planning to defect to APC and said that his twitter account was compromised.Read all the tweets below.
