Uwajumogu Harps On Achieving Sustainable Infrastructure Development

The Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, has stated that the present administration in the state was committed to guaranteeing sustainable infrastructural development in the Okigwe senatorial zone of the state to better the lots of the people.
Speaking at the sidelines on the official flag off ceremony of the Umuezeala-Umulumo road in Ehime Mbano local government area, Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, maintained that the rural road revolution currently going on in the six council areas of the zone was an indication of the state government’s resolve to open up the hinterlands and curtail the seeming unending sufferings of the people.
He said that the road projects being executed simultaneously in different parts of Okigwe zone was strategic, as it would in no small measure revive the economy of the rural dwellers and also enable for easy evacuation of various agricultural products to the needed markets.
The Speaker however, described Okigwe zone as seriously lagging behind in terms of rural road construction and maintenance, as well as other infrastructural facilities, but appreciated the good spirited efforts of the Rescue Mission administration in the state towards addressing the infrastructural challenges of the zone.
According to him, “Before we came on board in this administration, Okigwe zone was faced with litany of challenges in infrastructure, as well as other sectors. I took it as a duty, together with the Governor to ensure that every kobo meant for the development of Okigwe is judiciously utilized so that our people can feel the impact of good governance. That is why we have not rested till today, even in the wake of the present political activities, to ensure that Okigwe zone is better,” he explained.
He assured people of the zone that the success story being recorded in various sectors of the economy in the area would continue to improve, as he has taken it upon himself to free the people from the years of neglect from their past political leaders.
He further, charged people of the zone to continue in their support to the present administration in the state, as well as the All Progressives Congress, APC, to guarantee their rightful place in the country’s scheme of things.
