Okigwe Senate Seat: Youth Hail Uwajumogu’s Campaign DG

Ahead of the 2015 senatorial election in the Okigwe zone of the state, a youth group in the area has commended the Director General, Uwajumogu Campaign Organisation, Chief George Maduewesi (Onapuruagu) over what they described as his statesmanship approach in advocating for the growth and success of the All Progressives Congress in the zone, as well as, ensuring that the party convincingly wins the 2015 general elections in the area.

Chief George Maduewesi, who hails from Okigwe council area, had during the visit of the wife of the state Governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, to the Okigwe local government council secretariat for the formal inauguration of one of her pet projects “The Nneoma Women” for the area, strongly condemned the anti-party posture of some government appointees from the area, whom he said were threatening to vote for an opposition political party in the area if candidates of their choice is not given the ticket of the APC to fly its flag at the forthcoming senatorial election in the zone.
The Campaign DG also pointed out that every aspirant in the area must subject him/herself to the strong democratic culture which APC as a political party was known for, adding that the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, who is also the leader of the party in the state had in different Fora reiterated the need for the party to nominate its candidates based on the popularity and clout to win in the forthcoming polls, and not on zoning argument which according to him, would not do the party any good, rather add in destabilizing it.

The group who spoke through their publicity secretary, Mr. Ugo Anyanwu, described Mr. George Maduewesi’s stance as a step in the right direction, maintaining that his boldness in saying the truth as a leader was one of the strong requirements of a genuine party supporter, whose actions were geared towards ensuring success of the party in the forthcoming elections.

It also warned those they called well-known political jobbers whom it said out of sheer greed for money, go about luring successful businessmen into joining political contest which would ultimately mess them up, just for their selfish gains to have a rethink in the interest of the party and the Rescue Mission government which they claim to be part of.
The political Front advised intending aspirants to be wary of greedy politicians, who do not have their interest at heart, and whose stock in trade were inconsistent political membership, a development which enables them to be in the APC and at the same time, members of the opposition political parties.

The group further urged supporters of the party in the zone to rally-round its leadership and shun all acts capable of limiting its chances of winning the 2015 general elections in the area.
Earlier, wife of the Governor, Nneoma Rochas Okorocha, had during the occasion, cautioned the electorates in the area against availing themselves as pawns to politicians who now arrive from Abuja, as well as other parts of the country to canvass for their votes, adding that those politicians were ones who are not conversant with the immediate needs of the rural populace and those who do not have their interest at heart.
