The embattled governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako today made a surprise appearance at National Council of State meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.

“Nyako was the centre of attention when he entered the council chamber at 10:55am before the commencement of the meeting”, The Nation reported today.

The governor who is on the verge of being sacked from office had employed several measures to safeguard his seat, including the declaration of Public holiday in Adamawa State on Monday and Tuesday, an apparent move to scuttle the commencement of the impeachments panel’s proceedings.

Nyako is also reportedly wooing President Jonathan behind the scenes, and exonerated him from his political ordeal. He accused ‘some senior citizens’ of Adamawa based in Abuja for the political imbroglio bedeviling the state, Premium Times reported.

Media reports indicate that the impeachment panel probing allegations of corruption against the governor have just started sitting in Yola, the State capital. It’s not clear if the embattled governor and his Deputy are represented or would make any appearance in the sitting.
