The church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion has applauded the joint efforts of the state Governor, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha and the speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, which is aimed at expanding the frontiers of development in the state to all the sectors of the state’s economy.

In a special church service to mark the end of the 3rd synod session of the Okigwe South Diocese of the Church held at the St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Umunnachi, Obowo, the Bishop of the Diocese Rt. Rev. David Okechukwu Chikezie Onuoha, lauded the rescue mission administration in the state for initiating monumental projects across the nooks and crannies of the state.

According to the cleric, the number of verifiable projects scattered across the state by the present administration is an indication that the current government in the state is people oriented.

The Bishop also pointed out that prior to the advent of the present administration in the state, people of the state have not had it so good, adding that the administration has brought back confidence of the people in the art of governance.

In his speech, the speaker Imo House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, commended the church for its supportive role in shaping the government and the society and urged them not to relent.

He assured that the monster of youth unemployment and backwardness confronting Okigwe Zone will soon be a thing of the past.

Speaker Uwajumogu, while making the promise called on Okigwe political class to ditch partisan interest in concern for the development and advancement of the Zone and assured that their support will energize the government to continue to do more for the people especially in the resuscitation of moribund Isu Tiles at Ehime Mbano, Avutu Poultry in Obowu as well as site new projects to provide jobs for the teaming masses

He further stated that the state government was fully committed to turning around the fortunes of Zone through the provision of massive infrastructural and human capital developments across the state, adding that the 2014 budget estimate of the state would make funds available for the smooth take- off of the State College of Education, Ihitte –Uboma, stressing that such feat would shore-up rapid development of Okigwe zone.
