Dame Jonathan Welcomes the appointment of Catherine Samba-Panza as interim President of Central African Republic

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and President of the African First Ladies Peace Mission, Dame (Dr.) Patience Faka Jonathan, has welcomed the election of the Mayor of Bangui, Madame Catherine Samba-Panza, as thenew interim president of the Central African Republic (CAR).

In a statement in Abuja today, 21/01/2014, the First Lady stated that the election of  a woman, who is the first female to lead that African country, offered renewed hope in bringing about reconciliation in the Central African Republic.
Dame Jonathan, noted that Samba-Panza, who has made her mark as a successful corporate lawyer  and business woman will undoubtedly use her leadership qualities as a dexterous and effective achiever to bring peace to the CAR.
The First Lady wishes Madame Catherine Samba-Panza, the very best in her tenure as the interim president.
