Press Release: CLEEN Foundation Announces activities for Anambra Governorship Election

CLEEN Foundation is pleased to announce its activities for Anambra state gubernational elections.

Elections in Anambra state is one of the most eagerly contested elections in the recent Nigeria history, as a result of this the CLEEN foundation decided to carry out activities that can make the elections as credible as possible by working with the Nigeria Police Force and residents within the state.

CLEEN Foundation mapped out some activities which will help in achieving these goals. A security threat assessment was carried out in order to identify the nature, dynamics, and potentials for conflicts and understand the environment and how the state security functions. Police Officers from the Anambra State Police Command particularly the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) were trained using the guidelines developed by the Police Service Commission for police officers on election duty.

Sixty Three Observers would be trained and deployed across the Twenty One (21) local government areas in the State. The Call centre with accessible telephone numbers and email address has been set up in Awka to facilitate easy reporting of breach of code of conduct of security and law enforcement officers on electoral duty; also commendation of identified security and law enforcement official who have adhered to the said guidelines. Copies of the code of conduct and monitoring form can be downloaded from our website

The CLEEN Foundation would be working closely with the Security Governance Network (SEGON) in Anambra during this period. The support for the activities of CLEEN Foundation towards a peaceful, non violent election in Anambra State is provided by Justice For All (J4A) program funded by the UK Department for International Development.
