The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame (Dr.) Patience Faka Jonathan, has remarked that the legacy bequeathed by the late former Chief of General Staff, Vice Admiral Okhai Michael Akhigbe, GCON, will be written prominently in gold in the sands of time.

Dame Patience stated this today, 07/11/2013, in a condolence message sent to the family of the late Admiral. She observed that the former Chief of General Staff served Nigeria with immense patriotism and uncommon dedication throughout his distinguished career as an officer and gentleman in the Nigerian Navy. The First Lady recalled that as the Military Governor of Lagos and Ondo States, he exhibited exemplary vision and leadership.

Dame Jonathan said that her thoughts would continually be with the immediate and the extended family in this trying period, while praying that God in His infinite mercy should grant late Admiral Michael Akhigbe eternal repose in the bosom of the Almighty.
