MOLESTATION OF Rev.FR EUSTACE OKORIE: GOV. OHAKIM HAS APOLOGISED – BISHOP OBINNA

Gov.Ikedi Ohakim.

Governor Ikedi Ohakim has apologised for the mal-treatment of Rev Father Eustace Okorie by his security details.

The Catholic Arch Bishop of Owerri , His Grace A.J.V Obinna confirmed this in a telephone interview with our correspondent this afternoon.

The Bishop while also disclosed that He prevented the Catholic faithfuls in the State who threatened to embark on protest over the incident stressing that since the Governor has personally tendered an unreserved apology to the Church and the Priest, that he has been forgiven unconditionally.

It could be recalled that on Sunday 8th of August 2010
security officials attached to Mr. Ikedi Ohakim arrested a man of God, Rev. Father
Eustace Okorie for “allegedly” obstructing the convoy of the governor.
The  Security details accused the Catholic Priest of delibrately blocking the

the governor’s convoy with his car along Orie-Akabo
Ikeduru L.G.A. of the state. Rev. Father Eustace Okorie was immediately
arrested, and his car impounded. The Priest was taken straight to
the Chief Security Office (CSO) to Ikedi Ohakim who after questioning and
interrogation ordered that the priest be taken to the SSS office where he
was detained.

Efforts made by our correspondent to reach Rev. Father Eustace Okorie proved abortive as his mobile phones were switched off.

  2. This is rather unfortunate. We have heard repeated cases of this type of assault to many citizens of that state and Country. This is very revealing. Such disrespect to the dignity of the human person will be the last thing that should come from a person in position of authority. We need to look into ourselves more closely before attaining any public office. It is indeed a shame. I urge the faithfuls to speak more with their knees. God is the only just judge of all of us and He is the one we have and trust. Just keep looking upto God, He is our refuge.
May God have mercy on us and bless us.
