OHAKIM,IMO LG (S)ELECTION, AND PDP NEC – IKENNA SAMUELSON IWUOHA.

At last Mr. Ikedi Ohakim (The Imo State governor) has shown his true
colour to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) his assumed party.

It will be recalled that Ikedi Ohakim foisted people on PDP claiming
that such were party candidates in the just held council election in
Imo State. Actually there were no primaries whatsoever in PDP for the
emergence of party candidates, neither was there any election on the
7th of August 2010.

Imo PDP is standing on two legs namely (1) ALLIANCE Leg and (2) NEW
FACE leg. But Alliance is controlling over 90% of the structures of
Imo PDP while new face has the remaining 10%. Knowing this fact Ikedi
Ohakim simply announced names of “candidates” for the PDP without
allowing internal democracy to place in the party. Before then he had
illegally dissolved ISIEC (Imo State Independent Electoral Commission)
and re-constituted a new one headed by his brother in-law, personal
lawyer and friend one Mr. Emmanuel Nwonye. Undemocratically, Mr.
Emmanuel Nwonye fixed 7th August 2010 for local government election
without consulting any political party in Imo State.

Meanwhile, the ALLIANCE leg of PDP in Imo State had gone to court to
argue that they were excluded in the PDP concocted primaries. The
judge in the High Court 7 Hon. Justice Goddy Anunihu ruled that Ikedi
Ohakim should go ahead with the election but excluding PDP so called
“candidates”.
Also a formal report was made to the National Leadership of PDP and in
their wisdom advised Ikedi Ohakim not to conduct any Local Government
election until a proper PDP primaries is conducted in Imo State.
Infact the National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP wrote two different
letters to Ikedi Ohakim advising him not to go ahead with the so
called local government election. Again Mr. President Dr. Goodluck
Jonathan was alleged to have advised Ohakim to postpone the Local
Government election until harmonization process is completed in Imo
PDP. But all these words of wisdom were disregarded by Ikedi Ohakim.
This is the height of disobedience to the party by Ikedi Ohakim.

August 7, 2010 have come and gone but the truth of the matter is that
there was no election in any part of Imo State. ISIEC Chairman simply
announced that PDP “won” in all the 27 LGA without announcing the
figures. Neither did he say who came second, third or even fourth.
The questions now are, how can PDP win without any figures? What
margin did PDP use to win? Who collated the results? How come PDP
“won” in all the chairmanship elections yet the councillorship
election is yet to be announced by ISIEC? How come the so called
election “took” place on the 7th of August 2010, ISIEC “announced” the
result on the 8th of August 2010 and Ikedi Ohakim “swore” in the
elected Chairman on the 9th of August 2010 before 8.00am in the
morning. Funny enough about 6 “elected” chairmen missed their
swearing-in ceremony because they arrived the DAN-ANYIAM Stadium by
8:30am yesterday morning.

At this point one has to advice the Peoples Democratic Party to
quickly expel Ikedi Ohakim for disrespecting the party directive and
for abusing democratic process. For a man who is blind to party rules
and ethics, what such a man deserves is total expulsion from that
party. This is equally different from what the National Chairman of
PDP (Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo) said few days ago that performance must be
the yardstick for re-election for any PDP governor in Nigeria. It is a
notorious fact that Ikedi Ohakim is the most corrupt governor in the
history of this country. He is equally the least performing governor
in the country. This is also different from the fact that he is not
yet 2yrs old in PDP (according to party constitution) to warrant
contesting any election. It therefore means that Ikedi Ohakim is not
constitutionally qualified in PDP to contest any election in PDP.

Out of PDP, Ohakim is equally not qualified to contest any election in
Nigeria. This is equally because of his numerous activities in Imo
State. Find attached “HOW OHAKIM LOOTS IMO STATE, A CHALLENGE TO EFCC
AND OFFICE OF INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE”.
To conclude, the PDP will save Imo State a lot of political headache
and trauma if this criminally minded Ikedi Ohakim is expelled from the
Party.
