2011: CBN LIFTS EMBARGO ON CREDIT FACILITIES TO POLITICIANS

The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has given a tactical approval for Banks to lend money to Politician in other for them to finance their elections.
A competent source in the Presidency who witnessed the meeting between the CBN governor and Government alleged that Sanusi was under pressure to reverse his policy of not allowing Banks to grant credit faclities to Political exposed persons ( PEP)
The CBN Governor who is having a running battle with powerful politicians in Aso Rock who see his policies as killing the economy was said to have agreed to play along with the Presidency in other to win the support of the government.
Aliyu Gusau, Nigeria National Security Adviser recently condemned CBN leadership for its harsh stance against politicians many of whom are looking for one credit facility or the other from Nigerian Banks.
