Genevieve Leads Stars Into Jungle As Ultimate Search Begins

After weeks of anticipation, millions of Nigerian television viewers will from this  March, 2010 be treated to another exciting moment as the maiden edition of the Gulder Ultimate Show: Celebrity Showdown hits the airwaves.

The new television reality show, which will feature 10 Nigerian celebrities chosen from the music, movie and comedy industry, will have Nollywood screen idol Genevieve Nnaji leading the stars into the wild jungle as the anchor.

The celebrity contestants are: Emeka Ike, Muma Gee, Funke Akindele, Daddy Showkey, Comedienne Princess, Chioma Chukwukah, Fuji act Abass Akande Obesere, Weird MC, Dare Art Alade, and Bob-Manuel Udokwu.

The show, which is being recorded in the jungle near La Campaigne Tropicana Beach Resort, Akodo, Epe, Lagos would be aired once a week for 11 weeks on both terrestrial and satellite channels in Nigeria and beyond. The select television stations include; NTA, AIT, STV, DSTV’s Africa Magic and Soundcity.

In a chat with P.M.NEWS, Mr. Yusuf Ageni, Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries Plc, said that the show was designed to redefine television viewership in the country and beyond.

He explained that television viewers will for the duration of the programme, have something to always look forward to because there would never be a dull moment, as the 10 celebrities leave the comfort of their homes in search of a treasure in the jungle.

“They will live in the wild, doing house chores, and battle to emerge the ultimate celebrity,” Ageni told P.M.NEWS.

He added that the new show will not replace the front line show, Gulder Ultimate Search. The original Ultimate Search show made its debut seven years ago and will resume later this year.

Udokwu is the three times host of the widely televised reality show.

He will be in the jungle with the other nine celebrities searching for the lost treasure in this edition.

“My legs are wobbling, the leader will now be led,” Udokwu told P.M.NEWS recently at the unveiling of the 10 celebrities.

P.M.NEWS learnt that after the 11 weeks, the last celebrity standing will take home the ultimate prize of N7.5million, while all the 10 celebrities take a sign-on fee to participate and each will get eviction fee based on when evicted
